Welcome
The year 2005 is an important milestone in the history of Wanganui Chess Club. It is 140 years since our club was first established. What better way
to celebrate our anniversary than to hold New Zealand’s premier chess event, the National Chess Congress.
For those players and supporters who attended and enjoyed the 110th Congress, here in Wanganui two years ago, we promise much the same for
the 112th Congress.
Features will be the popular round-by-round spot prizes, lucky accommodation draws and free snacks and drinks.
The Collegiate Hotel and Motor Inn will again provide carpeted and air-conditioned playing venues,
and excellent accommodation at an affordable cost. In accordance with the recent NZCF AGM’s wishes, the official FIDE time controls will apply. I
warmly invite chess players from all parts of New Zealand and overseas, young and old, of all abilities, and from all walks of life, to compete in the
112th New Zealand Chess Congress, 2nd January, 2005 to 12th January, 2005.
